Description

Semester Offered: Fall Only
Introduction to Computer Forensics and Investigations provides students with the tools and techniques of computer forensics and investigation including personal computer operating system architectures and disk structures. Students will learn the investigative process, examine the profession, set up an investigator’s office and laboratory, and learn forensic hardware and software tools. Learning the importance of digital evidence controls and how to process crime and incident scenes will also be presented and discussed. Students will learn the details of data acquisition, computer forensic analysis, e-mail investigations, image file recovery, investigative report writing, and expert witness requirements. This course maps to the CompTIA Security+ certification. 3 credits.
Pre-requisite: CSC 104
Co-requisites: CSC 140
